SG Highway (NH 147) runs about 44.5 km from Sarkhej to Gandhinagar, forming one of Ahmedabad's key arterial roads. The Ahmedabad Metro Blue Line serves the corridor via Thaltej, Thaltej Gam and Doordarshan Kendra stations.

It connects to Sardar Patel Ring Road and Ahmedabad airport, with an AMTS AC bus service linking the airport to Karnavati Club on the highway.

Educational institutions along or near SG Highway include Nirma University, Silver Oak University, L J Campus, NIPER Ahmedabad, Chimanbhai Patel Institute of Management & Research, Sola Bhagvat Vidhyapith and SGVP International School, making this corridor one of Ahmedabad's established education hubs.

SG Highway is Ahmedabad's principal corporate/commercial spine: GNFC Tower, Intas Biopharmaceuticals and Zydus Corporate Park anchor it, alongside office complexes (Mondeal Square, Shapath IV/V, Titanium One) and nearby industrial estates.

Premium auto dealerships and large retail chains (Lifestyle, Globus, Croma, Westside) also line the corridor.

Landmarks directly on or near the highway include ISKCON Temple, Vaishnodevi Temple and Chharodi Lake.

The 15th-century Adalaj Stepwell, among Gujarat's finest carved stepwells, built in 1498, lies about 18 km north near Gandhinagar and is reachable via this corridor.

The corridor is dense with malls and leisure venues - Acropolis Mall, Iscon Mega Mall, Palladium Ahmedabad Mall and Swagat Holiday Mall - plus clubs (Karnavati Club, Rajpath Club) and hotels (Crowne Plaza Ahmedabad, Novotel Ahmedabad, The Grand Bhagwati).

A multiplex, Mukta A2 Cinemas, sits just off the highway.

Administrative control of the 44.5 km highway passed from NHAI to the Gujarat government in 2015. The Centre sanctioned Rs 700 crore in 2017 for widening and flyovers, and AMC introduced paid parking on a stretch the same year.

Flyover and elevated-corridor construction has continued through the 2020s to ease congestion.
