Aundh sits along DP Road, ITI Road, Baner Road, Aundh-Baner Link Road and Aundh-Wakad Road, with PMPML buses covering the locality and the Mumbai-Pune Expressway a short drive away. Khadki and Dapodi railway stations lie nearby on the suburban rail line.

The locality itself has no metro station - the closest, Bopodi on the Pune Metro Purple Line, sits 3.4 km away - though the upcoming Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar line is set to improve access. Savitribai Phule Pune University borders the locality.

Aundh houses well-known schools such as Dr Kalmadi Shamarao High School, DAV Public School, City International School and several pre-schools, giving families a full range of options within the locality itself.

Aundh is chiefly residential and retail, but its real-estate demand has been driven for years by IT professionals working the Hinjewadi and Baner corridors nearby, along with migrants moving into the city for work.

The locality carries a working commercial layer of its own too, with company offices, showrooms and health clubs clustered along its main roads.

Aundh's most notable historical claim is the 1817 Battle of Khadki, a decisive early engagement of the Anglo-Maratha Wars fought on the site of the old Aundh village.

The locality has since grown far beyond that village core, but Aundhgaon, the original settlement, still anchors the area's history alongside the newer residential development around it.

Westend Mall at Parihar Chowk is Aundh's entertainment anchor, built on a 17-acre plot with a Cinepolis 8-screen multiplex that includes Pune's first IMAX theatre, a 250-key five-star Hilton hotel, and Shoppers Stop.

DP Road and the neighbouring lanes carry a dense strip of restaurants and cafes, from quick-service chains to sit-down dining, making Aundh one of the busier evening-out destinations in western Pune.

The Parihar Chowk-to-Bremen Chowk stretch was redesigned under the Smart City Pune project, adding wider footpaths, a cycling track, seating, wi-fi and a vertical garden to ease peak-hour traffic and parking pressure.

The Pune Municipal Corporation continues to run footpath-repair and road-improvement programmes covering Aundh alongside neighbouring wards, and the under-construction Hinjawadi-Shivajinagar metro corridor is expected to add rail-based transit access nearby.
