Madhurawada sits directly on NH-16 (Golden Quadrilateral), about 16 km from Visakhapatnam's city centre. Visakhapatnam Railway Station is roughly 16 km and the airport about 25 km away, both reachable via NH-16.

APSRTC city buses and a dedicated Madhurawada bus depot serve the locality; a metro rail corridor to Madhurawada has been proposed but is not yet operational.

Madhurawada has a decent spread of CBSE/ICSE schools, including Vijayam Techno School and Greendale International School, and lies close to GITAM (Deemed University) in neighbouring Rushikonda and to Andhra University.

IIM Visakhapatnam currently runs from the Andhra University campus, with its permanent campus coming up nearby at Gambhiram.

Madhurawada is Vizag's flagship IT address, built around the Visakhapatnam IT Special Economic Zone and the adjoining Rushikonda IT park, which together host a cluster of major domestic and global IT/ITeS companies.

A proposed Rs 1,500-crore, 30-acre mixed-use tech campus is expected to add over 25,000 direct jobs.

The suburb borders Vizag's coastal tourist belt: Rushikonda Beach and the 380-acre Kailasagiri hilltop park with its giant Shiva-Parvati statues lie nearby, along with Tenneti Park, Ross Hill Church and Shilparamam crafts village.

The state has also proposed a roughly 250-acre Special Tourism Zone near Madhurawada.

Madhurawada is a retail and leisure hub for north Vizag, anchored by a DMart, Reliance Trends, Reliance Digital and a Metro Cash & Carry wholesale store, plus cinemas such as Srikanya Cinepolis, STBL Cine World and Durga Theatre.

It also hosts the ACA-VDCA international cricket stadium.

GVMC is investing in the locality: a Rs 550-553 crore underground sewerage system for Madhurawada, backed by IFC and AMRUT 2.0 funding, is under implementation.

VMRDA has also announced plans for roughly 25,000 new housing plots across the wider Vizag region, and NH-16 widening is planned to ease the corridor's rising traffic.
