Kommadi lies just off NH-16 in north Vizag, linked by road and APSRTC bus routes (25M, 25E, 222, 999, 111) to Madhurawada, Yendada, Maddilapalem, Dwaraka Nagar, Gopalapatnam and Gajuwaka. Visakhapatnam Railway Station is about 20 km and the airport about 27 km away via NH-16 (99acres); residents rate connectivity 4.1/5.

Kommadi is also planned as a terminus of Phase 1 of the upcoming Visakhapatnam Metro Rail, which is intended to eventually link it to the Steel Plant area in the city's south.

GVMC governs Kommadi and is working to expand municipal wards to keep pace with fast-growing north Vizag. Per Square Yards' locality news feed, VMRDA is racing to finish road projects linking the area to the upcoming Bhogapuram airport, and Visakhapatnam Metro Rail's Rs 11,498-crore Phase 1 has moved toward land acquisition.

Google's under-construction data-centre hub has also triggered new roads, power and water works in the wider district. Unscheduled power cuts remain a reported gap locally (99acres).
