Malviya Nagar has its own station on the Delhi Metro Yellow Line, which runs toward Gurgaon on one side and Central Delhi on the other. Hauz Khas station, an interchange with the Magenta Line, is close by.

The locality runs along Sri Aurobindo Marg, a primary arterial road, and borders the Outer Ring Road. Delhi Bus Rapid Transit routes and auto-rickshaw stands at the Main Market and Shivalik Gate add local transit options, and IGI Airport is 11 km away.

Sri Aurobindo College, a University of Delhi constituent college established in 1972, is located in the Shivalik pocket of Malviya Nagar.

The locality also has schools offering both CBSE and ICSE curricula, giving families schooling options within walking or short driving distance of home.

Malviya Nagar carries several monuments from the Delhi Sultanate period, including the tomb of Sufi saint Sheikh Yusuf Qattal, who died in 1526-27 during the reign of Ibrahim Lodhi.

The locality sits close to Hauz Khas Village, with its lake and monument complex, and to the Qutub Minar, giving residents easy access to some of Delhi's best-known heritage sites.

Select Citywalk and DLF Avenue, two of Delhi's largest and most popular malls, sit just outside Malviya Nagar in neighbouring Saket, bringing multiplexes, dining and retail within a short ride.

Within the locality itself, several neighbourhood parks serve as regular spots for walking, jogging and evening gatherings.

Malviya Nagar falls under MCD ward 149 and is a mix of DDA-built flats, independent houses and builder floors, many dating from the locality's development after Partition.

Water supply runs through the Delhi Jal Board, and DDA has been surveying older housing societies for redevelopment, adding parking and community facilities as blocks are rebuilt.
